Stephen A. Sakakeeny, LSP, LEP, CPG, CHMM
Mr. Sakakeeny is an experienced hydrogeologist and chemist with over 20 years of experience in performing and managing a variety of environmental assessment and remediation, environmental emergency response, and geothermal well installation projects. As an environmental compliance specialist, he has conducted hundreds of environmental site assessments and investigations; managed complex remediation projects; and performed facility closures and environmental compliance audits at industrial, commercial and government facilities throughout New England and the northeast. He is frequently called upon to provide technical peer review and regulatory compliance assessments for complex brownfields assessment and remediation projects. His expertise includes projects at manufacturing facilities, utilities, construction sites, and institutions. Prior to SAK Environmental, Mr. Sakakeeny managed private and government projects for an international environmental engineering firm. Mr. Sakakeeny has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and geology from Tufts University, and a Master of Science degree in hydrogeology from the University of New Hampshire. A Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional (LSP) since the programs inception, he has never had a complaint or deficient audit finding. Mr. Sakakeeny is also a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), a Certified Professional Geologist (CPG), and a Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP).
Maureen Walsh Sakakeeny, PE, LEED AP
Ms. Sakakeeny has over 20 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering consulting and program management, specializing in complex projects with multidisciplinary teams. Her experience includes environmental planning and investigations, engineering design, transportation and military projects, construction management, and consulting on sustainable development, renewable energy, and brownfields projects.
Sr. Project Manager, Professional Geologist & Licensed Site Inspector
Mr. Matz has more than 25 years of site assessment, remediation, permitting and compliance experience. He has specific experience in due diligence, the retail petroleum industry; large-scale soil management for urban redevelopment projects and Brownfield sites; and, assessment and clean-up on behalf of the insurance industry. Mr. Matz has been a Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional since 2001 and a New Hampshire professional geologist since 2002. At SAK, James will be working on new business ventures, as well as providing LSP and Senior Project Management support to our new and current clients.
Jim is an avid gardener and has won top awards at the Topsfield Fair for his herbs and vegetables. Jim enjoys golf and travel and lives with his wife and son on the Northshore.
Senior Field Inspector
Mr. Marks is an experienced field inspector with over 15 years of experience in the environmental engineering field. He has experience with US EPA Brownfields, low-flow groundwater sampling, and Superfund sites. He has been responsible for monitoring well installation and development, O&M on soil vapor extraction and free-product recovery systems, landfill inspections and leachate monitoring, and monitoring of confined spaces. His experience includes overseeing underground storage tank removals (UST); field screening of soil to direct excavation; sample collection of water and soil; overseeing dewatering operations; groundwater sampling low-flow, low stress; indoor air quality surveys with collection of air samples (SUMMA); soil gas monitoring; and other related environmental inspections. Mr. Marks was the sample team lead for AFCEE and EPA groundwater events at the Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, NH, and was responsible for calibrating and maintaining sampling equipment. He is a graduate of the Institute for Environmental Education (IEE) Environmental Technician Hygienist Certificate program and holds multiple OSHA certifications.
Mr. Po has experience conducting field investigation programs, permit compliance inspections, multimedia environmental sampling, ASTM environmental site assessments, AutoCAD, and feasibility study report preparation, analytical data tabulation and analysis, and emergency response assistance and environmental reports. He is an experienced inspector for geothermal system installation and MA solid waste compliance programs. Mr. Po is OSHA 40 HAZWOPER and OSHA 10 trained, and has completed respiratory training & fit testing.
Paul A. Murphy, PE
Consulting Air Permitting Specialist
Mr. Murphy is a chemical engineer with over 24 years of experience in air emissions permitting, environmental compliance, and management. He has expertise in developing and managing engineering and environmental regulatory compliance solutions for a variety of industries. Mr. Murphy is familiar with both state and federal air rules and enjoys an amicable working relationship with key state and federal regulators. He has prepared numerous MA air emission permit applications, and federal “new source” and Title V operating permit applications in multiple states. Mr. Murphy is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University (Nova Scotia), a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from Technical University of Nova Scotia, and a Masters of Education degree from Harvard University.
Chhavan ‘Van’ Nuon
Mr. Nuon is a Staff Civil/Environmental Engineer with increasing expertise in construction inspection, environmental monitoring, AutoCAD, emergency response, pollution prevention, scheduling, documentation and client reporting. He is experienced in working at commercial and industrial properties, and active construction sites. Mr. Nuon is OSHA HazWoper and Construction Safety trained, respirator Fit Tested and he is also an experienced inspector for MA solid waste compliance programs.
Project Manager, Licensed Asbestos Inspector/Monitor
Ms. Emmert earned her Bachelor of Science in Geology and has acquired twelve years of experience in environmental assessment and remediation. She is a dedicated professional proficient in leading, coordinating, and conducting field and technical activities, including environmental and geotechnical subsurface investigations. She is a proven performer utilizing a strong combination of analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Prior to joining SAK, Meghan worked at two national engineering firms. Jenny L. Cronin
Staff Geologist, Licensed Asbestos Inspector
Mrs. Cronin earned her Bachelor of Science in Geology from San Francisco State University and has two years of experience conducting soil and groundwater sampling, storm water compliance sampling, analytical data tabulation and analysis, and preparing environmental reports. She is also experienced with field sampling techniques and protocols and has served as a Site Health and Safety Officer. Mrs. Cronin has experience with Phase I and Phase II assessments, ASTM and AASHTO standards, Geosystems software and MODLOW. She most recently has been certified as a Licensed Asbestos Inspector. Pendra has over 20 years experience in project and office administration. Working in the communications field while enlisted in the Air Force, she has utilized her experience and knowledge while working in a variety of fields. Pendra received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Emmanuel College in Boston, as well as her Associates in Applied Science from the Community College of the Air Force and WPI’s certificate program for Project Management. Pendra serves as SAK’s Business Manager and assists with project proposals & RFP’s, client coordination, marketing programs, as well as handing outreach events and public relations programs for the company. Ms. Bell also administers and provides maintenance to the client database, facilitates office management, creates and sends electronic newsletters and notices, as well as accounts payable/receivable.
Pendra’s Air Force service and her desire to travel, has taken her through the lower 48 states and 10 countries, including Germany, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Italy. Pendra lives with her husband and 3 daughters in the Merrimack Valley.
