Maintaining and Expanding Access to Water on the North Shore

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, in cooperation with the towns of Lynnfield and Saugus, recently completed replacement of two water mains that run underneath Route 1 in Saugus, marking the end of a two-year project to improve water service to both communities. Nearly 2 miles of 18-inch and 12-inch water lines were replaced while traffic impacts were minimized by completing the work at night.

SAK Environmental provided environmental consulting support and on-site monitoring and testing to Albanese Brothers, Inc. of Dracut, MA during construction.  Environmental consulting services included soil and groundwater characterization, testing and analysis of dewatering discharge, permitting and regulatory compliance.  For more on SAK’s role in the project, read the article in our June 2011 newsletter.
