Maureen Walsh Sakakeeny has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Merrimack River Watershed Council (MRWC). The Merrimack River Watershed Council was formed 36 years ago by local activists and regional planning commissions to involve citizens in cleaning up the Merrimack River. Their mission is “To protect, improve and preserve a healthy ecosystem for the mutual well being of the people and wildlife of the Merrimack River Watershed Community through education, advocacy and science.”
The MRWC has been re-energized with the hiring of Executive Director, Dr.Caroly Shumway, the receipt of new grants, and the planning of the council’s first Merri-Fest on August 3rd on the banks of the Merrimack River in Lowell.
