The Challenge:

north-andover-ma-chemineer-environmental-compliance-auditChemineer, Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture of industrial mixing equipment and heat exchangers required a multi-media environmental compliance audit of their 30,000 sf facility in North Andover, MA. The comprehensive audit consisted of an evaluation of facility operations with regard to applicable local, state and federal environmental regulatory requirements.

The Environmental Services Provided:

SAK was retained to review existing permits; records and correspondence files from the Conservation Commission, Board of Health, Fire Department, POTW; environmental testing results; chemical inventory records and usage; and other pertinent documents. A findings report was issued which identified the need for further actions for stormwater permitting, air permitting, and hazardous waste management

In response, SAK developed a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and submitted a Notice of Intent to manage stormwater discharge under EPA’s Multi- Sector General Permit (MSGP). SAK provided quarterly stormwater sampling and monitoring, and will be conducting annual employee training.

For air permitting, SAK determined that the facility’s annual VOC emissions would be below the threshold required for DEP Plan approval, and that Chemineer could be covered under specific permit-by-rule exclusions. To help meet some of the exclusion criteria, SAK developed a spreadsheet for Chemineer to track monthly and annual average VOC emissions.

For SQG hazardous waste management compliance, SAK prepared a hazardous waste management plan, weekly inspection checklists, emergency action plan and waste minimization policy.
