SAK Environmental Plays Integral Role In Getting The Salem Harbor Energy Center Closer To Producing Cleaner Energy

Jul 14, 2017

After two (2) years into the project, SAK Environmental LLC is helping the new Salem Harbor Energy Center (SHEC) get closer to producing cleaner energy. The SHEC, a new natural gas-fired, state of the art high efficient power generating station is being built on a portion of the 65 acre former Salem Harbor Station, a former coal-fired plant, in Salem, MA. The remaining 47 acres will be available for improved waterfront access and development.

SAK is responsible for general environmental program management and compliance and performs a key role for the project’s success by providing turnkey environmental services that include:

  • Program management
  • Inspectional services
  • Contaminated soils management
  • Hydrostatic testing waste management
  • Stack testing
  • Permitting (tanks, industrial waste water, storm water, dewatering)
  • Hazardous waste disposal
  • Noise and air quality monitoring
  • Iberdrola picSHEC-7-14-17-300x168

“We know that our work is critical to the project’s schedule. We think like CMs so our team participation is constructive, forward thinking, and seamless.” says Stephen Sakakeeny, Principal at SAK.
