Asbestos, PCB, Lead Paint, Decontamination, Environmental Due Dilligence, Regulated Waste Site Cleanup, Construction Services: DPW Facility Improvements

The Town of North Andover invested in significant improvements to its Public Works facilities. The $4.4 million project building included a building addition with Class A office/meeting space, construction of a new sand/salt storage building, and light improvements to the garage envelope.

The property was first developed on urban fill, surrounded by wetland. SAK Environmental provided comprehensive turnkey services to support demolition of existing structures and testing and management of contaminated soil.

Because the design team underestimated the impact of contaminated materials, SAK completed a rapid assessment program to keep the project on schedule and to comply with strict conservation commission requirements on soil storage.  SAK provided transportataion and disposal of 4,300 tons of contaminated material to four (4) receiving faciltiies.

SAK worked closely with the design team and general contractor to meet the project's changing needs. The result was timely management of contaminated materials and compliance with environmental protection requirements, at the least cost possible.
