Flowserve Corporation, a global leader in the fluid motion and control industry, having over 18,000 employees and operating in 55 countries, needed environmental health and safety expertise for a local facility. The 100,000-s.f. facility was slated for closure and as operations and personnel wound down, Flowserve looked to SAK Environmental to maintain the company’s strong EHS culture in the last year of operation.
SAK Environmental provided full-time onsite safety, health and environmental staffing to implement and improve the facility’s EHS programs in accordance with corporate and regulatory requirements during the remaining months of production. The Onsite Staff integrated into Flowserve’s management team prior to the designated closure date for 8 months.
SAK provided onsite EHS staffing that ensured employees continued to perform their work safely. SAK maintained all procedures, plans and regulatory reporting required during manufacturing. During this time, Flowserve maintained zero “lost time” accident, including the complex process of decommissioning.
SAK Environmental also participated in planning and implementation to decommission the facility to maximize effectiveness. SAK made notifications to appropriate agencies regarding the closure of the facility. Decommissioning was achieved without incident.
