J. Tropeano, Inc. has retained SAK Environmental since 2015 to provide various construction support services during their horizontal construction and road way improvement projects.
Primary services have included the preparation of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), as required under the Clean Water Act (CWA) that meets the requirements of the National Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Pollutant general permit. In general, the NPDES storm water program requires permits for discharges from construction activities that disturb one or more acres, and discharges from smaller sites that are part of a larger common plan of development or sale.
SAK has prepared site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASPs) focusing on construction safety standards under the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations 29 CFR Parts 1910 and 1926. Health hazards associated with chemical exposure during construction activities and the protective measures to minimize worker and environmental exposure are addressed in the HASP. SAK has conducted “tailgate” safety meetings prior to our client initiating the construction work.
Using industry-accepted templates and based on our experience, SAK is able to offer these services as cost-effective lump sum fees. From the date of authorization, SAK is typically able to issue initial draft documents within two calendar weeks
When unexpected contamination was discovered during construction, SAK was contacted to assess conditions and facilitate the required MassDEP submittals. SAK has provided waste characterization services for the offsite disposal of contaminated soils encountered during construction.
